Book a Cheap Hotel in York for Bike Rides
People who book a cheap hotel in York might be interested in taking a short drive to Dalby Forest in the Yorkshire Moors as it hosts a major mountain bike championship.
The UCI Mountain Biking World Cup Cross Country championship will be held on April 24th, breaking-in the new World Cup trail at the forest.
Funded by the Forestry Commission, the £100,000 trail is "fiendishly tricky", according to cyclist Chris Moran, writing for the Independent.
It is not open to the public yet, but keen cyclists can enjoy plenty of other trails at the forest.
There is a three-acre dirt jumping park, a four-cross track and practice lines available for amateur or more advanced bikers.
Families and amateur cyclists can follow specially-designed trails that will guide them safely back to the Dalby visitor centre cafe. For more adventurous tourists, the trail can take them as far as the seaside town of Whitby.
Martin O'Vastar, forest ranger and mountain bike course designer at Dalby, told Mr Moran: "From here to Whitby it's 15 to 20 miles of unspoilt forest."
