Book Cheap Hotels in London for Renaissance Lesson
The British Museum will display a new exhibition from April, showing drawings by influential Italian Renaissance artists.
Fra Angelico to Leonardo: Italian Renaissance Drawings, will run from April 22nd until July 25th and will feature 100 drawings by artists including Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Verrocchio.
The exhibition will examine the changing nature and styles of Italian Renaissance art and the importance of preparatory drawings.
Visitors will recognise elements in the artist's sketches that later appear in their great works and sculptures.
Conservationists have used infrared technology to gain a further insight into the drawings and how they allowed the artists to experiment and explore with shapes and styles that they could not do in their commissioned pieces.
Works of art are not often shown in the British Museum, but in 2006 the museum exhibited sketches by Michelangelo to great critical acclaim.
Visitors booking cheap hotels in London are advised to book tickets for the exhibition as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
