Broad Wings over the Broad Acres

Broad wings over the broad acres Visitors to York in August will be able to look to the skies for some entertainment when the Yorkshire Airshow takes place at Elvington Airfield on August the 18th and 19th 2007.

Lying just outside the city, the airfield's website is promising a day of "mighty thunder" as it puts on the noisiest show in its history.

Aircraft lined up for the show include the Vulcan, Victor, Mirage, the Red Arrows and, to mark the 25th anniversary of the Falklands War, aircraft from both Britain and Argentina of the types that saw action in 1982.

Published prices have been set at £14 for adults (advance ticket) or £16 on the day, with Children half-price (under-fives free) and £2 off for pensioners.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels in York can combine the fun in the sky with a trip round one of the most historic cities in England, with the Minster, city walls and Yorvik Viking Centre being just three of its historic attractions.
