Caerphilly Does It
With Christmas coming there are light parades and festivals all over Europe, with Wales being no exception as the River of Light parade in Caerphilly demonstrates.
The parade is held on December 21st, with hundreds of children parading with their long line of lanterns through the streets past the medieval castle, where the parade ends with a large bonfire and fireworks display.
While the event is a highlight of the calendar, Caerphilly offers many other interesting things to see and do.
The huge castle, one of the biggest in Britain, is itself a major attraction, featuring its own leaning tower, while the town is famous for its crumbly white cheese.
Outdoor activities are well catered for, with quad-biking, fishing and caly-pigeon shooting all on offer.
Caerphilly is also conveniently located for visiting Cardiff and the Brecon Beacons National Park.
The area has many accommodation options, including cheap hotels.
