Calendar Girls Stage Adaptation Comes to Glasgow

Fans of the hit British movie Calendar Girls can see the inspiring tale brought to the stage at Glasgow's Kings Theatre this year.

People staying in cheap hotels in Glasgow will be able to see a short run of the play at the Bath Street theatre from September 30th until October 4th.

Calendar Girls tells the story of a group of Women's Institute (WI) members who decide to raise money for charity by posing nude for a calendar.

In doing so, the ladies find themselves the subject of condemnation from the old-fashioned WI and are caught up in the middle of a global media sensation.

Tim Firth's stage adaptation of his own film screenplay features a number of recognisable faces, such as Lynda Bellingham and Gaynor Faye, filling the roles assumed by the likes of Helen Mirren and Julie Walters in the movie.

Theatre fans visiting Glasgow will be able to see a number of shows at the King's Theatre this year, including Evita (September 1st-13th) and Oklahoma! (October 21st-25th).
