Celebrate a Much-loved Scottish Poet

Celebrate a much-loved Scottish poet Lovers of the written word in all its forms will be able to celebrate the work of Iain Crichton Smith in Edinburgh in May.

People staying in cheap hotels in Edinburgh can visit an event dedicated to the writer at the Scottish Poetry Library on May 20th.

Crichton Smith was one of Scotland's most popular poets and this acknowledgement of his work will mark the 80th year since his birth and the tenth year since his death.

Visitors to the event, which will be hosted by Christine de Luca, will be able to bring some of Crichton Smith's poems and read them aloud.

Another event held at the Scottish Poetry Library in May will be hosted by Michael Hoffmann and look at the work of German writer Rainer Maria Rilke.

Those interested in attending this reading group, which will meet on May 8th, will know that Rilke is considered one of the finest German writers of the 20th century.

He created both poetry and prose, with Sonnets to Orpheus and Letters to a Young Poet among his most famous works.
