People staying in cheap hotels in York in June will have the chance to see a new production of the first collaboration between Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
The Likes of Us, which will be presented at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre from June 23rd to 27th, was created by the pair before they enjoyed success with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
It will be staged by the York Light Opera Company following the success of 42nd Street.
The show has been put on limited release to a number of amateur companies this year in celebration of Lloyd Webber's 60th birthday and is expected to open professionally in London's West End.
It tells the story of the philanthropist Dr Thomas Barnardo and his work to help impoverished children in London after witnessing their shocking living conditions.
The Joseph Rowntree Theatre will also host productions of Alan Bennett's The History Boys (April 28th to May 2nd) and West Side Story (July 21st to August 1st) this year.
