Cheers for the Booze
For those who love a pint, March provides a good excuse to visit the smallest town in Britain, as Llanwtryd Wells in mid-Wales hosts the Folk 'n Ale Festival over the weekend of March 9th to the 11th.
This is no party for drinkers of mass-produced lager – it's made for connoisseurs of real ale – while local musicians provide traditional folk music as the end of winter is celebrated in traditional style with some serious partying.
If the beer and music isn't enough, visitors staying in cheap hotels in the area have plenty more to see and do.
The immediate area is one of rolling hills and woodland, with plenty of hiking, fishing, bird watching and mountain biking available, with the Welsh language much in evidence around the district.
Further south, more serious walking and climbing is available in the Brecon Beacons National Park.
