Connie Fisher to Bring Solo Tour to Birmingham

Connie Fisher to bring solo tour to Birmingham People who were impressed with Connie Fisher's performance as Maria in the recent revival of The Sound of Music in the West End will be able to see how she fares as a solo artist in Birmingham in June.

The singer will be setting off on a tour in May promoting her album Secret Love, with the final show scheduled at Birmingham Town Hall on June 10th.

Fisher shot to fame in September 2006 when she won the BBC television talent contest How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? and went on to play the lead role in The Sound of Music.

After giving some 300 performances, she handed over the part to Summer Strallen in February 2008 to concentrate on her solo career.

Fans will have the opportunity to see her play Maria again, however, when The Sound of Music sets off on a UK tour later this year that will begin in Cardiff in July and visit Manchester, Edinburgh and other cities.

People staying in cheap hotels in Birmingham will be able to see plenty of live music shows in the city over the coming months, including gigs by Morrissey (May 13th) and Antony and the Johnsons (May 22nd) at the Symphony Hall.
