Death of a Salesman Comes to York

Death of a Salesman comes to York Theatre lovers staying in cheap hotels in York will soon be able to see a piece of work by one of the 20th century's greatest playwrights at the Theatre Royal.

Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman will come to the St Leonard's Place venue from October 31st to November 29th.

The play tells the story of Willy Loman, a burnt-out salesman whose pursuit of the American dream has turned his life into a nightmare.

Willy's emotions and mental state change, however, when he is visited by his two sons and spends time with his wife and children for the first time in years.

Miller's play, the story of which may already be familiar to many owing to its film adaptation starring Dustin Hoffman, is considered a modern classic and a compelling examination of the value of the American dream.

Between October 21st and 25th visitors to York will also be able to see The Yeomen of the Guard at the Theatre Royal, an opera by Gilbert and Sullivan.
