Discover Edinburgh's Treasured Items
Visitors to Edinburgh will be able to browse through a variety of unusual and valuable items at an exhibition set to open at the National Museum of Scotland this month.
The display, entitled Treasured: Wonderful Things, Amazing Stories, will open on November 14th and will run while the Royal Museum building in Edinburgh is being refurbished.
More than 300 pieces will feature in the exhibition, including sacred objects, royal possessions, natural wonders and groundbreaking inventions.
Edinburgh hotel visitors will be able to examine fossils, see precious items from ancient civilisations and even inspect a Martian meteorite.
All of the pieces on display in this exhibition, as well as many others, will be moved to the new display galleries in the Royal Museum when the building reopens in 2011.
Edinburgh's Royal Museum has united interests in art, science, natural history and other topics for more than 150 years and is now being reinvented to make it fit for the 21st century.
