Discover the Duchess of Hamilton in York
Travellers staying in cheap hotels in York this summer can pay a visit to the National Railway Museum to see an exhibition featuring the Duchess of Hamilton.
Restored to the streamlined form in which it was originally designed, the train will be on display at the museum throughout the year.
Originally built in 1938, the Duchess of Hamilton was a striking example of opulent Art Deco design that won great critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic.
The locomotive is being displayed at the National Railway Museum at the centre of an exhibition that explores the associations between fashion, engineering and design in the 1930s.
Another exhibition that visitors to the museum can explore this year is India on the Move, which brings together 100 portraits and film clips capturing the lives of the millions of people whose existence revolves around India's railways.
This display will be open until September 7th this year.
