East Yorkshire Receives First Michelin Star
Find a cheap hotel in York and spend the rest of your budget on award-winning food as east Yorkshire has earned its first Michelin star.
The Pipe and Glass Inn in South Dalton has joined the exclusive club of top eateries in the world.
What might be more surprising is that this inn labels itself as a gastro-pub rather than a restaurant.
Chef James McKenzie told the Gazette and Herald: "We never opened to get a Michelin star...we are really proud to be the first in East Yorkshire to get one."
He added: "We won't be changing anything. We set out to give good-quality, locally-produced food and reasonable prices and we will carry on doing that. We are proud to be a pub and people will still be able to come in and get hand-pulled ale and a steak sandwich."
North Yorkshire has three Michelin-starred restaurants: The Star Inn at Harome, The Burlington in The Devonshire Arms Country House at Bolton Abbey and The Yorke Arms at Ramsgill-in-Nidderdale.
