Edinburgh Delves into the Graphic Novel
People staying in cheap hotels in Edinburgh this year will learn that comic books are not just for kids, as the city hosts an exhibition dedicated to the graphic novel.
Local Heroes: The Art of the Graphic Novel will be free to visit at the National Library of Scotland between April 4th and June 1st.
The show will draw on the library's extensive collections to show how comics and graphic novels have evolved and 'grown up' over the past four decades.
Particular attention will be paid to the influential role that Scottish artists and writers have played in turning the graphic novel into a serious and respected art-form, looking at figures such as Alan Grant and Cam Kennedy.
The display will also explore the work of Alan Moore whose works From Hell, Constantine and V for Vendetta have all been adapted into movies and Frank Miller, the man behind Sin City.
Comic book fans will also be able to indulge their interest in a range of other topics at the exhibition, including the superheroes and villains of Marvel comics, Belgian adventurer Tintin and Japanese Manga.
