Edinburgh Hoping for More Visitors This Winter

Edinburgh hoping for more visitors this winter It is hoped that the range of cheap hotels in Edinburgh, the city's winter promotions and its seasonal attractions will attract more visitors this year.

Tourism agency VisitScotland said that it was giving the capital a "winter makeover" to move away from the trend of the winter season traditionally being a slow one for tourism.

The group will highlight the range of activities and attractions that are available in Edinburgh between the beginning of December and the end of February, including its Winter Wonderland area.

Visitors will also be encouraged to experience New Year's Eve in Edinburgh and embark on shopping trips around the city.

Between January 7th and February 29th there will be a 'Dine Around' promotion that will see a number of restaurants and eateries offering set-price menu deals.

VisitScotland's Ben Carter said that the "magical" city of Edinburgh offers something to keep all types of visitor happy.

"Whether they are interested in our magical and vibrant Christmas and Hogmanay celebrations, our world class museums, galleries and attractions or our great restaurants, bars and shops, Edinburgh has something for everyone in winter," he said.
