Edinburgh Museum Looks at Modern Writers

Edinburgh museum looks at modern writers One of Edinburgh's museums is offering a unique perspective on nine contemporary Scottish women writers this year.

Until July 12th, the Writers' Museum will exhibit portraits of female authors including Kate Atkinson, Helen Dunwoodie, Margaret Elphinstone, Val McDermid and Joan Lingard.

The concept of the exhibition was inspired by Mount Helicon, the mythical home of the nine muses.

The portraits are the work of Anna Caro, a graduate of the Edinburgh College of Art who has exhibited work across the UK and the US.

People with a joint interest in art and literature who are staying in cheap hotels in Edinburgh will be able to find the Writers' Museum on Lady Stair's Close in Royal Mile.

Visitors will also be able to head to the Scottish capital's City Art Centre over the coming months to see an exhibition of recent acquisitions of photographic work, which features pieces by leading photographers including Calum Colvin and Owen Logan.
