Edinburgh visitors' last chance to see Lely exhibition People booking cheap hotels in Edinburgh might be interested to head down to the city's National Gallery Complex to get a final glimpse of the Lely exhibition.

Sir Peter Lely: Artist and Collector will close on February 14th.

The exhibition displays work by the Dutch artist Peter Lely, who was principal painter to Charles II and was an acclaimed portrait painter during the mid 17th century.

Edinburgh also celebrates Lely's vast art collection of almost 10,000 prints and drawings and nearly 600 paintings.

As well as displaying Lely's own work, prints of his portraits by other artists will also be on show.

From Lely's collection, examples of Flemish and Italian old master drawings will be displayed, judged by the artist himself as 'the best in Europe'.

The exhibition aims to examine the artist and his collection as a whole and explore different aspects of his life, according to the gallery.

National Gallery Complex is located on the Mound in the heart of Edinburgh's Princes Street.
