Enjoy a Brush with Culture at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Enjoy a brush with culture at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe One of Britain's most popular and acclaimed cultural institutions, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, will get underway on August 7th this year.

Billed as the biggest arts festival in the world and the number one tourist attraction in Britain, the Festival Fringe will offer entertainment for people staying in cheap hotels in Edinburgh up to August 31st.

The festival presents performances to cater for all tastes, from art exhibitions and theatre to stand-up comedy and music.

Highlights this year will include the ever-popular Edinburgh Comedy Awards and the Made in Scotland series, a selection of dance and theatre performances to showcase Scottish talent to promoters.

The Fringe traces it history all the way back to 1947, when eight independent theatre groups turned up to the first Edinburgh International Festival (EIF) without invitations.

Another landmark event on the Scottish cultural calendar, the EIF will be held from August 14th to September 6th this year.
