Experience a Scottish Snowdrop

Holidaymakers staying in cheap hotels in Edinburgh between February 1st and March 16th will have the opportunity to experience the Snowdrop Festival.

This Scotland-wide event is back by popular demand in 2008 and will showcase some of the best snowdrop gardens, woodlands and estates across the country.

A number of events are organised for this festival, all designed around the aesthetic appeal of Scotland's winter landscape.

Visitors will be able to enjoy snowdrop gardens all across the nation, which will include wide expanses of countryside to walk in and country houses, stately homes and estates, some of which are open exclusively for the festival.

There will also be white stone statues and carpets of snowdrops laid down to enhance the atmosphere of the occasion.

In Edinburgh, snowdrop gardens will be located in Shepherd House, Hopetoun House and the Royal Botanic Garden.

A particularly special event will take place on March 15th at the Botanic Garden - the Dark Sky stargazing evening, which includes 90 minutes of indoor and outdoor activities, including planetarium shows and comet making for children.
