Experience the Edinburgh Festival
Culture vultures will be booking their cheap hotels in Edinburgh soon in preparation for what is arguably the biggest event on the city's calendar.
The famous Edinburgh International Festival will run from August 14th to September 6th in 2009.
Every year, this event turns the Scottish capital into a bustling cultural hub, bringing leading figures from creative arts scenes all over the world to the city.
Classical music, theatre, opera, dance, visual arts and more come to some of Edinburgh's biggest venues for the festival, including the Queen's Hall, the Playhouse and the Royal Lyceum Theatre.
Highlights this year will include a performance of Macbeth at Usher Hall on August 21st and a production of Faust at Lowland Hall from August 18th to 22nd.
The Scottish Ballet will perform at the Edinburgh Playhouse on September 4th and 5th, while the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the European Union Baroque Orchestra will be among the music groups visiting the capital.
