Experience the Life of the Modern Soldier in Edinburgh

Experience the life of the modern soldier in Edinburgh Travellers staying in cheap hotels in Edinburgh this year will be able to visit an exhibition in the city that explores the experiences of modern soldiers.

Helmand: Faces of Conflict will be open at the National War Museum in the Scottish capital until January next year.

It features photographs taken by Robert Wilson, an artist who studied Edinburgh's 52 Infantry Brigade and its members' experiences in Afghanistan.

Images of various aspects of modern-day warfare feature in the exhibition, from the rocket pod of an Apache helicopter to the faces of soldiers returning from three long weeks on patrol.

The photographs also provide a representation of the unique landscape of the country in which British soldiers are fighting.

Edinburgh's National War Museum is home to a number of exhibits that may be of interest to visitors, including uniforms, insignia, medals, weapons and paintings that offer a fascinating insight into military history.
