February a Steady Month for London Hotels
UK hoteliers managed to fight off the winter chill in February after seeing an increase of 8.5 per cent in room yields.
Figures reveal that London hotels fared the best, with repay up 4.7 per cent year-on-year to £74.72.
London hotels also saw occupancy and room rates soar, up 1.1 per cent to 78.2 per cent and 3.2 per cent to £95.57 respectively.
Robert Barnard, partner for hotel consultancy services at PKF, told Travel Daily News: "Despite it being the coldest February for ten years, London hoteliers had a good month building on the cracking start to 2006."
He went on to say that in other areas of the UK hotel performance also improved and described the results as "very encouraging".
Although statistics show that the majority of visitors were from the UK and Europe, the percentage of tourists from the USA, Japan and other countries is also on the up.
