Festive Magic at the Royal Opera House
There are some shows that perfectly capture the magic of Christmas and London's Royal Opera House is a good place to catch a few of them this year.
The Royal Ballet will be giving performances of two ballets by Sir Frederick Ashton in late December - Les Patineurs and The Tales of Beatrix Potter.
Les Patineurs, or The Skaters, was first seen at Sadler's Wells just over 70 years ago and uses music from two Meyerbeer operas, L'Etoile du Nord and Le Prophete.
Peter Rabbit, Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, Squirrel Nutkin and the rest of Beatrix Potter's creations first made the transition from stage to screen in 1992 and will be magically brought to life again this year.
Christmas crowds at the Royal Opera House will also be entertained by a run of The Nutcracker this festive season.
This performance of Tchaikovsky's classic ballet will be conducted by Pavel Sorokin from the Bolshoi Ballet.
One or all of these shows combined with a stay in a hotel in London is sure to be a memorable, magical experience.
