Fruity Fun
Lovers of the humble apple may be delighted to know that there is a festival dedicated to this quintessentially British fruit at the National Trust's stately home of Erddig (pronounced erthing) near Wrexham.
Erddig Apple Festival takes place over the weekend of October 6th and 7th 2007 and marks the harvest season with apple bobbing, cider making and tasting, apple dishes and plenty of music, dance and displays to entertain the whole family.
As well as the festival, the house and its beautiful gardens are also included in the admission price, which is £8 for adults and £4 for juniors, with an extra ten per cent voluntary gift-aid payment.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Wrexham will also be close to a wide range of attractions.
Those who like their uplands can enjoy the fine hilly country of North Wales, with the mountains of Snowdonia close by.
Alternatively, just across the nearby border with England lies historic Chester.
