Get Down to Some Motown in Birmingham

Get down to some Motown in Birmingham The timeless sounds of Motown will provide some classy entertainment to people staying in cheap hotels in Birmingham next month.

Reach out to Motown, a tribute show organised by original Drifters member Roy G Hemmings, will come to the West Midlands city's Alexandra Theatre on May 24th.

Some of the most successful and respected artists in modern music history were attached to the Motown record label, including Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, the Supremes and Smokey Robinson.

People who make it to the Alexandra Theatre show will hear live renditions of such classics as I Heard it Through the Grapevine, My Girl, Dancing in the Street and Baby Love, which typify the Motown sound.

Tribute acts such as the Love Supremes and the Tops and Tempts give the performances, while musical accompaniment is provided by the Dictionary of Soul Band.

Reach Out to Motown will be sandwiched in-between two musicals at the Alexandra Theatre, with a run of Never Forget ending on May 23rd and Singin' in the Rain showing from May 26th.
