Glasgow Comedy Fest to Unveil Its Own Brand of Laughter

Those looking for a good laugh next year could look to the Glasgow International Comedy Festival, due to start in March.

Last year's festival was marked by the appearance of a diverse range of top comedic talent, featuring the likes of Elaine C Smith, Karen Dunbar, Ronnie Corbett, Phil Kay and Jimmy Carr.

Those looking for a humorous break in Glasgow can stay in one of the city's many cheap hotels and they may be interested to hear that Russell Brand has been announced as the 2007 festival's first headline act.

The fringe star appears on March 10th at the Academy and has added a show on the 11th, due to "phenomenal demand".

More acts are yet to be confirmed, while the full programme will be announced in 2007. However, tickets for Russell Brand's show are available now, while cheap hotels in Glasgow will also be taking bookings for the festival.

Additionally, the promoters are asking for submissions for new shows from people who wish to perform.

The deadline for additions for aspiring comedy showmen to add themselves to the programme is November 17th.
