Glasgow Festival to Commemorate Tennessee Williams

Glasgow festival to commemorate Tennessee Williams This year will see the Glasgay Festival, Scotland's annual celebration of gay culture, incorporate the Tennessee Williams Festival, a six-week programme of events marking the 25th anniversary of the writer's death.

The joint festivals, which will run from October 1st to November 9th, will present four UK premieres of lesser known Williams works, a major revival and a six-week film series in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Among the highlights will be Andy Arnold's first production for the Tron Theatre – a classic revival of Suddenly Last Summer.

Three short plays will also have their Scottish premieres – Hello from Bertha, This Property is Condemned and Talk to Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen.

People staying in cheap hotels in Glasgow will also be able to see a new play called Elysian Fields by Derek McLuckie focusing on the life and strange death of Tennessee Williams.

The Glasgay Festival itself will feature a broad range of theatre, visual art, comedy, music and film, including a performance by Scotland's Theatre Cryptic.
