Glasgow Goes Bang

Glasgow goes bang Although it was England's parliament when Guy Fawkes tried to blow it up, November the 5th is celebrated as spectacularly in Scotland as anywhere, and no more so than in Glasgow.

A huge fireworks display is held each year to mark the event on Glasgow Green, by the city's winter gardens, with 50,000 explosions set to music to produce a spectacular show, all free of charge.

Glasgow Green can easily be reached by 20-25 minutes walking from Queen Street or Central Rail Stations, or St Enoch Subway station.

The city of Glasgow has undergone a renaissance in recent years, offering many new attractions such as the Science Centre in the docklands and a vibrant scene of pubs and nightlife.

It has an abundance of accommodation, including plenty of cheap hotels.

Set in the central belt of Scotland, Glasgow also has excellent road, rail and air links, with the historic attractions of Edinburgh just 40 miles up the motorway to the east and the spectacular scenery of the highlands, including the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park to the north.
