Happy Bard Day

Happy bard day The birthdate of Shakespeare officially falls on April 23rd 1564, although according to record it was on the 26th, perhaps unfortunately for the most famous wordsmith in English history as the 23rd April was the day he died too, supposedly on his 52nd birthday.

However, in his home town of Stratford-upon-Avon it is the birth of the bard that is celebrated, although the celebrations this year will be mainly held over the weekend of April 28th and 29th.

These include a costumed parade, with full regalia, flags, bands and street entertainment accompanying it, heading through the town to Holy Trinity Church where his birth was recorded.

Visitors staying in cheap hotels in the area can enjoy a wide range of activities in the town during their stay, including a visit to Shakespeare's birthplace, a riverside wander along the Avon, or, of course, a trip to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre to enjoy one of his famous plays.
