Have a Gander at This
Visitors to Nottingham in October can enjoy one of the longest-standing events held anywhere when the Nottingham Goose Fair takes place.
The fair is held between October the 3rd and 6th 2007 on the Forest Recreation Ground, (the original home of Nottingham Forest Football Club - hence the name) with a history that dates back all the way to 1284, although the current location has only been in use since 1928.
While it was once a place to get a goose and lots of other goodies to stock up for the coming winter, today the event is a huge fair, with rides galore for children of all ages to enjoy.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Nottingham may wonder if Robin Hood ever paid a visit to the fair and those interested in the famous outlaw can visit the Tales of Robin Hood in the city centre to discover more about the legend, while nearby Nottingham Castle, starting point for the English Civil War, is also nearby.
