High Fashion Goes Under the Hammer

High fashion goes under the hammer World famous auction company Christie's will be welcoming dedicated followers of fashion through the doors of its London house on March 4th.

The auctioneer's Twentieth Century Fashion show is expected to be wildly popular, with some prized lots set to attract some eye-watering bids.

Among the items that visitors to London hotels can see going on sale is a late-1940s Hermes coat, 1960s graphic Pucci creations and Ossie Clark pieces from the 1970s.

Popular pieces of 1990s evening wear designed by Vera Wang are also set to go under the hammer, along with numerous handbags, luggage, jewellery and other accessories.

Other sales taking place at Christie's in early March this year include a Modern Design day and a Film Posters auction that will be full of iconic promotional designs evoking various periods in the history of cinema.

People who are more likely to be staying in hotels in New York in a couple of months' time may wish to visit the company's house in Rockefeller Centre, which will be holding an American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture sale on March 7th.
