Hit Newcastle for Design Event '08
Visitors to Newcastle will be able to familiarise themselves with the current state of art and design culture in the UK at Design Event '08.
This festival will see a number of exhibitions, shows, talks and other events being held at various venues throughout north-east England from October 9th to 26th.
The range of events that people staying in cheap hotels in Newcastle will be able to attend includes a sustainable lighting exhibition, a Scandinavian illustration exhibition and a fashion show.
One of the most popular additions to the festival is set to be the Design Event Mart, which will be held at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art on October 18th and 19th.
This show will give visitors plenty of opportunities to see and buy work by emerging and established artists, with work including new jewellery from designers Alice Highet and Bronwen Deane, fashion from Electrik Sheep and ceramics from Helena Seget.
Visitors whose main interest is fashion should head to Globe City at Curtis Mayfield House in Newcastle, which will play host to the Skirt Boutique Fashion Show on October 23rd.
