Those who enjoy Celtic culture and music can enjoy it to the full in one of its heartlands during the Hebridean Celtic Festival.
Held from July 11th to 14th, the festival is centred on Lews Castle in Stornoway but also has events across the isles of Lewis and Harris.
Music, language and tradition form the backbone of the festival, with the Gaelic language, spoken by the majority of people in the islands, to the fore and The Proclaimers topping the list of bands playing at the castle.
According to the festival website, tickets for the main stage events at Lews Castle vary from £15 to £20, with no booking fees charged.
As well as the festival, Stornoway and the Western Isles offer a wide range of attractions.
The scenery is rugged and beautiful, birdwatchers will be able to see a huge range of sea birds such as puffins and visitors staying in cheap hotels will be able to have a go at getting their tongues round the Gaelic language, which among its unusual features has an alphabet of only 18 letters.
