Kate Moss to Turn to Gold at British Museum

Kate Moss to turn to gold at British Museum Supermodel Kate Moss has been seen in various poses and guises over the years, but never in the form that she will appear in as part of a British Museum exhibition in October.

Artist Marc Quinn has created a solid gold statue of Moss that weighs some 50kg and is thought to be worth around £1.5 million.

People staying in cheap hotels in London will be able to see the creation as part of Statuephilia, an exhibition that will open at the British Museum on October 4th and also include work by Antony Gormley.

Quinn's previous work has included a bronze status of Moss in a yoga position entitled Sphinx and a bust of his head that was made using eight pints of his own frozen blood.

"I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who's the ideal beauty of the moment," he said.

"But even Kate Moss doesn't live up to the image."

Visitors to the British Museum exhibition will also be able to see 200 plastic skulls made by Damien Hirst.
