Locals' Guide to Scotland Published
People considering a stay in a cheap hotel in Edinburgh, Glasgow or any other Scottish destination can now make use of a new guide designed to offer an insider's view of the country's best attractions.
VisitScotland's Real Scotland The Locals' Guide promises to reveal "the best insider tips, hidden gems and off-the-beaten-track Scotland experiences".
The guide can be bought in shops or picked up for free following registration on the VisitScotland website.
Adventurous travellers can use the publication to locate Britain's most northerly locations or find a stump of stone that was reportedly once used by a bored Viking who carved his name into the rock.
Kathryn Macdonald, product manager at VisitScotland, said: "We wanted to give visitors a tool to discover more of Scotland even if they have come many times before.
"From Portsoy's traditional Small Boats festival to the best place to spot otters, Real Scotland is crammed with inspiring fresh ideas and a touch of humour, which I'm sure readers will enjoy."
People planning trips to Scotland may find that they have plenty of options open to them next year as the county hosts its first 'homecoming year' to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of national poet Robert Burns.
