London Hosts 'highlight' in European Cultural Calendar

London hosts 'highlight' in European cultural calendar People who book a cheap hotel in London might be interested in visiting a new exhibition of Van Gogh's work at the Royal Academy of Arts.

The Real Van Gogh: The Artist And His Letters will display around 65 paintings, 30 drawings and over 35 original letters, which are rarely exhibited because of their fragility.

According to the academy, the drawings "express the principal themes to be found within the correspondence", many of which were written to the artist's brother.

This is the first major exhibition on Van Gogh in London in 40 years and will attempt to delve into the artist's complex mind.

BNY Mellon, sponsor of the event said: "Through the juxtaposition of Van Gogh's letters and his art, we see his life, work and passions illuminated as never before."

Vincent Van Gogh was born in 1853 in the Netherlands and worked as an artist for ten years before his suicide in 1890.

The exhibition will be on display until April 18th.
