London Tops Nightlife Charts
London is the top destination in Britain for nightlife and entertainment, according to a survey by TripAdvisor.
The online travel community polled more than 500 people who have stayed in cheap hotels in London and experienced Britain's many other attractions and destinations.
As well as winning praise for its night-time offerings, London was also voted Britain's best location for accommodation and good food.
London and other holiday spots such as Cornwall – which was voted the overall favourite among British destinations – have been popular this year as many Brits have taken 'staycations' rather than foreign trips to save money.
TripAdvisor's European communications manager, Ian Rumgay, said: "People who have opted for a 'staycation' have the chance to discover what a huge diversity of holiday destinations are available in this country.
"Ranging from the peace and tranquility of the Scottish Highlands to the buzz and excitement of a city like London, the weather may not always be kind, but with so much choice it does not really seem to matter."
The dubious honour of being Britain's most boring holiday destination went to the Norfolk Broads, followed by Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Bournemouth.
