Make an E-Leven-th Hour Visit
Early October offers the last opportunity to enjoy the famous topiary gardens at Levens Hall in Cumbria before it closes for the winter.
The gardens stay open to October 11th, offering visitors the chance to enjoy a crisp autumn day admiring the fine gardens with their ornately sculpted hedges, which form all sorts of extraordinary artistic shapes, including ovals, triangles and squares.
Adults can pay £6.50 to see the gardens or £9.50 to see inside the hall as well, with Children charged £3.50 and £4.50 for the same sights.
In addition to the gardens, there may be a good chance to spot some of the local wildlife, which in the case of Cumbria may mean the odd red squirrel sighting.
Levens Hall lies in the south-east corner of the Lake District, within easy reach of Windermere, England's largest lake.
Visitors staying in one of the many cheap hotels in the area can enjoy a boat ride on the lake or visiting the literary attractions in the area, including the former homes of Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth.
The Lakes is particularly attractive in the autumn when the bracken and trees turn golden brown.
