March to the Beat of the Military Tattoo
The city of Edinburgh will once again host the annual Military Tattoo this summer.
This annual outdoor military display will take place against the majestic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle between August 1st and 23rd.
People staying in cheap hotels in Edinburgh who make it to the show will be part of an audience of some 217,000 people who visit the castle esplanade during the tattoo's three-week season.
The event is also watched by an international television audience of around 100 million every year.
While the 2008 festival will include all the traditional elements – massed pipes and drums, bands and the lone piper – it will also boast some new ingredients.
Among the additions will be the 150-piece Golden Eagles, one of the most televised university marching bands in the United States, and a cultural group from the Far East.
Visitors will also be entertained by a 50-strong highland dance troupe from Canada, who will perform with the Highland Spring Dancers.
