National Museum to Delve into Extremes
Edinburgh's National Museum of Scotland will be delving into issues of human willpower and the strength of community at a special exhibition this year.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Edinburgh will be able to explore Extremes: Life in Subarctic Canada between May 16th and October 5th.
The exhibition will feature a number of crafted objects that were collected by Scottish fur traders from the Dogrib Dene, or Tlicho, community living in Canada in the 1850s and 60s.
These objects now provide a fascinating insight into a little-known society that is hundreds of years old.
The display is the result of a relationship between the National Museum of Scotland and the descendants of the people who once traded with Scots in the 19th century.
Another exhibition at the Edinburgh museum this year is Silver: Made in Scotland, which features the largest collection of Scottish silver ever put on public display.
More than 300 pieces are incorporated into the show, including a silver teapot crafted for Scottish comedian Billy Connolly.
