New Year Concert in Glasgow

New Year Concert in Glasgow People planning to celebrate New Year's Eve in Glasgow this year may be tempted to hang around for a few days after the party for a show at the Royal Concert Hall.

The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland's (NYOS) flagship symphony orchestra will present a special New Year concert on the evening of January 5th.

Led by Cristian Mandeal, principal conductor of the Halle Orchestra, the concert is being held partly to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the NYOS.

The young ensemble will be joined by virtuoso pianist Ian Fountain on the evening and will give performances of celebrated works by composers including Enesco and Prokofiev.

On January 2nd, people staying in cheap hotels in Glasgow will be able to see the penultimate show in the Royal Scottish National Orchestra's series of festive concerts, a performance of Handel's Messiah.

The final night of the season, on January 3rd, will be a Viennese gala concert featuring a range of waltzes, polkas and arias, many composed by Johann Strauss.
