Not Notting Hill but Nottingham
For those who love a Caribbean Carnival, Nottingham proves that there is life outside west London with its own free event in July.
The Nottingham Carnival will be held on July 7th and 8th 2007, featuring a huge and colourful procession celebrating the culture of the islands in the sun, with lots of colour, food and music giving the whole weekend a great West Indian flavour.
Held in the heart of the city, the parade takes three hours to wind its way from College Road to the Forest Recreation Ground, which will have a large fair.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Nottingham can also enjoy a variety of attractions.
These include Nottingham Castle, the starting place for the English civil war, the Tales of Robin Hood exhibition and the famous Lace Market.
Nottingham sits on the banks of the River Trent, with plenty of excellent riverside walking available.
