Nurse Your Hangover with a Noisy Parade
While many people may be inclined to spend the majority of New Year's Day in bed, groaning pathetically and lamenting the ridiculous antics indulged in the night before, others will be on their feet and enjoying the traditional January 1st parade through the streets of London.
Revellers staying in cheap hotels in London to see in the new year should make their way to Parliament Square for midday, where Big Ben will strike noon to give the signal for the parade to begin.
The route will then take participants through Whitehall, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus and other areas before the procession comes to an end in Berkeley Street at 15:00 GMT.
More than 10,000 performers from 20 countries will assemble to take part in the parade, representing groups as disparate as the Southern Mini Owners Club, north-west Missouri's Bearcat Marching Band and Clowns International.
There will also be two concerts held in St John's Smith Square in Westminster, with performances ranging from concert and jazz bands to orchestras and choirs.
London's New Year's Day parade has been a tradition since 1987 and has raised or donated over £600,000 to charity since its inception.
