Ouse-ing History

Ouse-ing history York is always a good place to visit for those who love history, but beyond the physical structures the past is brought to life every year at the Jorvik Viking Festival.

Taking place between February 14th and 18th, the event re-enacts the York of Viking times, when the River Ouse was tidal and the longboats could sail deep into the broad acres.

Viking battle drills, a procession through town and a re-enactment of a battle are all major attractions to entertain visitors staying in cheap hotels in the city.

There are also exhibitions, stalls and crafts to bring a taste of some of the more sedantry and gentle aspects of Viking life and culture.

Visitors to York will also have plenty more to see and do, including visiting the Minster, walking the city walls, shopping in the narrow streets, taking a boat trip or even having a day at the races.
