Oxford, Cambridge Go Head to Head Again
The Oxford and Cambridge university boat clubs will once again take to the River Thames this spring to fight for another year of bragging rights.
Taking place this year for the 154th time, the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race sees two teams row just over four miles from Putney to Mortlake.
Oxford have some ground to make up in the contest, as they currently trail Cambridge 79-73 and lost to their bitter rivals last year.
The race has ended in a dead heat only once, in 1877. In 1952, Oxford won in the midst of a blizzard, while in 1984 Cambridge wrote off their boat minutes before the start of the race.
Such is the popularity of the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race that up to 250,000 spectators gather on the banks of the Thames every year to enjoy the contest.
People staying in cheap hotels in London will be able to find good vantage points at Putney Bridge, Bishops Park, Hammersmith and Barnes, Dukes Meadows and Chiswick Bridge.
