Pirates of Penzance Sails into York
A popular version of the comic musical The Pirates of Penzance will be entertaining visitors to York this summer.
The show will have a short run at the York Theatre Royal from July 8th until July 12th.
Director Bev Jones will return to the theatre after a four-year break since he oversaw the production of Jesus Christ Superstar in 2004, this time introducing his own Northern Musical Theatre Company.
The Pirates of Penzance the Broadway Version is a popular and lively adaptation of the Gilbert and Sullivan romp, which features outrageous characters ranging from the pirate king to the police sergeant.
People staying in cheap hotels in York who make it to the show will enjoy rich stage and costume designs, grand orchestral melodies and plenty of laughs.
Another highlight of the forthcoming summer on the York theatre scene will be a production of The Railway Children at the National Railway Museum, which is a collaboration between the museum and the Theatre Royal.
