Pop out for a Pig's Ear

Pop out for a pig's ear Anyone who happens to be staying in a cheap hotel in London between December 4th and 8th this year may want to take the opportunity to pop out for a pig's ear.

That's a beer, to those who are not familiar with the complexities of cockney rhyming slang.

The Pig's Ear Beer Festival has been a tradition since 1982, hosted by the east London and City branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra).

Unusually for a festival, this event features no music, meaning that all the attention of the visitors to the Ocean in Hackney will be focused on the glass in their hand and the beverage inside it.

And what a variety of beverages there will be to choose from - over 100 alcoholic drinks will be available for eager consumption from traditional and pale ales to porters and ciders.

Camra was established in 1971 and claims to have campaigned for "real ale, pubs and drinkers' rights" since its inception.
