Queue Up for a Trip to Kew

Queue up for a trip to Kew Plant and flower enthusiasts keen to blow away the winter cobwebs might wish to head down to Kew Gardens for a colourful tropical experience.

From February 3rd the Royal Botanic Gardens is host to an indoor rainforest that is "crammed with vibrant exotic flowers".

Visitors will be able to see more than 30,000 exotic plants on display, including orchids, maranta and bromeliads.

Appropriately dubbed 'Intensely Tropical', the tropical flower and orchid festival is held annually, though this year marks something of a departure, since the orchids will be placed alongside other plants.

But a trip to Kew would never be complete without a tour round the gardens themselves, so visitors might want to take a guided walking tour while they are there.

These included permanent highlights as well as seasonal experiences for those visiting and start daily at 11:00 GMT.

Those looking for a more sedate way of taking in the beautiful surroundings might wish to go on the Kew Explorer Bus, which provides a tour of the gardens with running commentary.

After a trip round Kew, why not indulge in the sights and sounds of the capital by visiting Buckingham Palace, Westminster or the London Eye.
