Record Ticket Sales at Edinburgh Festival
A massive two million tickets have been sold for this year's three-week Edinburgh International Festival.
The event has seen a 17 per cent jump in online sales compared to last year and is expected to be bigger and better than ever.
Visitors staying in Edinburgh hotels can enjoy the unique celebration which sees drama, opera, music and dance come to town.
This year organisers have been battling to re-open the Usher Hall venue which is being refurbished but in the past has been central to the event.
It will be opened fully next year but officials have also swung open its doors for the duration of the festival.
Speaking to the BBC, festival director Jonathan Mills said: "The Usher Hall is in some ways our most important venue, so I really did not want to imagine a festival without it.
"It is a great relief and a great sense of excitement that the Usher Hall is up and running for yet another year of fantastic music-making."
