REM to Play the Royal Albert Hall
US band REM is to play the Royal Albert Hall for the first time later this year.
Set to take place on March 24th, the "special engagement" will also feature a number of support acts, who include The Duke Spirit and Robyn Hitchcock.
The gig will pre-empt the band's European tour and will also help mark the Institute of Contemporary Arts' (ICA) 60th anniversary.
REM will start their tour in North America before embarking on the European leg in July in Amsterdam. The band's official website also states that more UK dates are due to be announced "shortly".
Tickets, which start at £25, will go on sale for the event at 09:00 GMT on Friday February 15th. Profits from the show will go to the ICA.
Other European gigs on the tour include Berlin, Naples and Milan. Accelerate, REM's new album, is due to be released on March 24th.
